CUMBERLAND, Ky. -  Cumberland man was found dead on the roof of a closed Big Lots store, and state police believe he was killed while trying to steal copper.

According to a news release from the Kentucky State Police, officers were called to the abandoned building by Cumberland Police on Friday. They identified the dead man as 20-year-old Brandon O'Neil Hall.

Police believe Hall was trying to steal the copper wiring that supplied electricity to the building.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Harlan County Coroner Jim Bush. The body was sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.
