Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear makes appointment to boards, commissions

FRANKFORT, Ky. - The office of Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear announced Friday that the governor has made several appointments to various state boards and commissions.

9 On Your Side has compiled a list of the appointments.

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Commission on Small Business Advocacy to serve for terms expiring Aug. 22, 2016:

• Normand G. Desmarais, of Covington, is an executive at Tier1 Performance. He represents the 4th Congressional District. The appointment replaces Suzan H. Ross, whose term has expired.
• Laura Leigh Goins, of Frankfort, is vice president of communications at Kentucky Retail Federation. She represents citizens at large. The appointment replaces Joyce Kinder, whose term has expired.
• Kristel S. Smith, of Frankfort, is executive director of the innovation and commercialization center at Eastern Kentucky University. She represents the 6th Congressional District.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed Rodney Casada to the Kentucky State Board of Chiropractic Examiners to serve for a term expiring March 29, 2016. This order is effective March 30, 2013.

• Rodney Casada, of Somerset, is a chiropractor at Chad C. Henderson, DC PSC.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed James Sharp to the Kentucky Agency for Substance Abuse Policy Board to serve for a term expiring Sept. 20, 2016.

• James Sharp, of Lexington, works in government relations at the American Cancer Society. He represents the Kentucky Chapter of the American Cancer Society.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed the following members to the State Board of Examiners and Registration of Landscape Architects to serve for terms expiring Feb. 1, 2016:

• David J. Reed, of Louisville, is a landscape architect at Qk4.
• Brian A. Shirley, of Bowling Green, is a landscape architect at Arnold Consulting Engineer Services.
• Mary L. Witt, of Lexington, is an emeritus professor at the University of Kentucky Horticulture Department. She represents citizens at large.

Gov. Beshear has appointed William Edward St. Pierre to the Native-American Heritage Commission to serve for a term expiring Sept. 1, 2016.

• William Edward St. Pierre, of Villa Hills, is director of academic campuses and programs at Eastern Kentucky University. He represents the public at large. The appointment replaces Elbert E. Hagans, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed the following members to the commission to serve for terms expiring Sept. 1, 2016:

• Cynthia L. Isbell, of Louisville, is project manager at National City. She represents the public at large.
• Dwight R. Cropper, of South Portsmouth, is an archaeologist at the University of Kentucky. He represents members of the preservation or archeological communities.
• A. Gwynn Henderson, of Lexington, is a staff archaeologist at the University of Kentucky. He represents institutions of higher learning.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed the following members to the School Facilities Construction Commission to serve for terms expiring Dec. 31, 2018:

• James E. Parsons, of Newport, is an attorney at Taft, Stettinius & Hollister.
• Vearl R. Pennington, of Owingsville, is retired.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Wanda Hammons as magistrate for the 2nd District of Grant County, to serve according to the provisions of Section 152 of the Kentucky Constitution.

• Wanda Hammons, of Dry Ridge, is an emergency medical technician with Rural/Metro. The appointment replaces Brian Linder, who has resigned

Gov. Beshear has appointed Mike Pryor as judge-executive for Nicholas County:

• Mike Pryor, of Carlisle, is a self-employed contractor. The appointment replaces Kenneth C. Lyons, who has resigned.
