Ind. biological mother outraged at children's living conditions

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) -- The biological mother of three children who authorities allege were deprived of food and water and kept in locked, darkened rooms tied to beds by their adoptive parents says she was outraged to learn the conditions they were living under.
Christina Joiner tells the Terre Haute Tribune-Star ( http://bit.ly/Vos8x3 ) she thought she was doing the right thing when she put her two sons and a daughter up for adoption. Joiner, who now lives in Monroe County, called the newspaper after reading about the arrests of 39-year-old Larry Russell and 35-year-old Nikki Russell of Terre Haute.
Not guilty pleas have been entered for the Russells on charges neglect of a dependent and criminal confinement and public defenders were appointed to them. Each is being held on $100,000 cash bond.
