Honda's new Accord brings investment, jobs to Ohio

CINCINNATI (AP) -- Honda's new Accord sedan to be unveiled Monday at a central Ohio plant has led to more than $220 million in investments and more jobs in two other Ohio plants.

Development officials say they are seeing increased business for suppliers, and are hoping for even more economic benefits as production of the new model ramps up at its Marysville plant.

Honda has added about 150 jobs between its Russells Point plant supplying the Accord's transmission and the Anna plant producing the engine. But economic development officials say they also are seeing more jobs and increased business for Ohio's Honda suppliers.

The Accord competes in the biggest segment of the U.S. auto market and is often No. 2 on the list of best-selling cars.

Honda has about 13,500 employees in Ohio.
