DAYTON, Ohio (AP) - Dayton city police say they are working with University of Dayton officers to expand patrols near campus after six incidents of violent crime against students in September.

The Dayton Daily News reports that the incidents have included students held up by robbers with guns and knives and the assaults of others. There has been one related arrest.

University police Maj. Larry Dickey said the number of violent incidents is unusual for the area, and he doesn't have an explanation.

UD reported six robberies on campus in 2010, the most recent year for which statistics are available. There was one in 2008 and one in 2009.
