"Twitterverse," defined as "postings made on the social networking site Twitter, considered collectively," is among the most annoying words of 2012, according to a Marist Poll. More than 1,200 adults were surveyed in early December.

New social media tools are making it possible for anyone to text, even people who’ve passed away.

According to a new article on CNN.com , tech companies like DeadSocial are working on technology that makes it possible to send pre-written emails, Facebook status updates and tweets from beyond the grave.

"It really allows you to be creative and literally extend the personality you had while alive in death," DeadSocial founder James Norris told CNN.com. "It allows you to be able to say those final goodbyes."

We’re not only talking about one message either. The company _LivesOn allows people to keep their Twitter accounts active with regular updates that mimic the personality displayed by a person through their tweets while they were alive.

The major goal of these companies is to use their social media advancements to change the way people think about death and help people get through the grieving process.

"We shy away from death. It reaches us before we approach it," Norris said. "We're using tech to soften the impact that death has and dehumanize it. It allows us to think about death in a more logical way and detach ourselves from it."

You can access DeadSocial online at or via Twitter at @DeadSocial .
