Millions of tweets served during Super Bowl XLVII

Now that Super Bowl XLVII is over, 9 On Your Side is taking a closer look at some of the top trending items on social media during the big game. According to Twitter officials, 24.1 million tweets were sent during the game and halftime show. Of those, 5.5 million tweets came during Beyonce’s halftime show.

Now, for a look at which moments generated the most tweets per minute:

  • The power outage at the Louisiana Superdome
  • The 108-yard kickoff return for a Ravens touchdown by Jacoby Jones
  • The clock expiring and the Ravens sealing their win

It's not just the tweets exploding online about the Super Bowl. Instagram officials say three million photos mentioned the Super Bowl last night. At its peak, more than 450 photos were posted per second.
