SAN FRANCISCO - People waiting on their new iPhone 5 may have to wait even longer, according to CNN, which is reporting Apple said pre-orders of the phone won't ship for three to four weeks.
Pre-order response to the new smartphone has been massive, outstripping analysts' expectations.
The company said it received more than 2 million pre-orders in the first 24 hours, double the number it got for last year's record-setting iPhone 4S release.
Apple's initial promise to ship pre-ordered phones in a week, the same day they become available at Apple stores and other retailers, was pushed back just an hour after pre-orders opened up at midnight Thursday.
CNN reports it could take up to a month for the phones to ship. But it's not clear if it will affect everyone who ordered the smartphones.
