An equipment failure in the Westwood area Thursday night left more than 3,000 people without power for nearly two hours.

Duke Energy reported around 8:45 p.m. Wednesday evening that as many as 3,400 people lost power in Hamilton County, mostly in the Westwood area, as the result of an unspecified "equipment failure."

Power was returned to all customers in Hamilton County by 10:40 p.m., according to Duke Energy.

A spokesperson for Duke Energy reported around 9:30 p.m. that power would be restored after repair crews managed to transfer power to another circuit..
