CINCINNATI - A District 3 Cincinnati police officer was injured while trying to arrest a 13-year-old runaway in Westwood Wednesday morning.

Police say they located a 13-year-old girl who had run away while they were in the 2700 block of East Tower Drive in the Four Towers Apartments' complex at about 9:30 a.m. When the officers tried to retrieve the runaway she became unruly and disorderly, according to officials.

Additional officers responded to the scene and had to use force to subdue the girl. During the struggle, a Cincinnati police officer sustained minor injuries.

Officials originally reported a Taser was used in the incident, but later corrected that a Taser was not deployed.

Emergency crews transported the girl, whose name has not been released, to Children’s Hospital — as is procedure before going to juvenile detention.

Officials have not released any additional information at this time including the officer’s name.
