CINCINNATI - A woman and a child had to jump from a second-floor window of a Sedamsville apartment during a fire on Friday.

The fire broke out at in the basement of the Eatondale apartments in the 200 block of Fairbanks Avenue around 10 a.m. Smoke quickly filled the halls, forcing residents to evacuate.

The woman was taken to a hospital for an injured leg and complaints that she was having difficulty breathing. The child was uninjured.

Investigators believe the fire started while a child was playing with a lighter.

A damage estimate has not been released.

The fire remains under investigation.
