CINCINNATI - A third grader was removed from an elementary school in Price Hill after bringing a BB gun to school on Tuesday, according to authorities.

The third grader was caught waiving the BB gun around in a classroom at Carson Elementary School on Glenway Avenue, authorities said. No one was injured and the student was immediately removed from the school.

Police felt the 9-year-old made enough of a threat that they took him to juvenile detention. It was not clear why the boy brought the BB gun to the school.

Officials at the school stated the incident was an obvious violation of discipline policy. Before the third grader can return to school he and his parents will have to meet with school officials to discuss what happened.

School officials said the student will not be formally suspended or expelled.
