CINCINNATI - Shots were fired outside Western Hills High School Friday evening.

Police have confirmed no one was injured.

According to dispatch reports, police responded to the high school located at 2144 Ferguson Road around 9:25 p.m. after receiving reports shots had been fired on the school's property. The suspect fired shots into the air near a sign in the front of the building as a crowd was exiting a high school basketball game, police said.

Police say thousands of people were in the area because of a sold out basketball game between Western Hills and Withrow High Schools.

Police say safety at schools is always a top priority especially in light of the mass shooting that took place at a Connecticut elementary school Friday.

"Obviously safety is our number one priority, it's a big concern for us," Cincinnati Police Lt. Chris Ruehmer said.

Officers on the scene said there was a larger than normal police detail at the game because of the large crowd.

The suspect is being described as a thin 6-foot tall black male in his late teens or early 20s. He was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt with a white Adidas logo and blue pants at the time of the incident, police said.
