CINCINNATI - A man locked himself inside a basement with a knife in a Mount Airy home Friday, prompting SWAT officers to respond.

At approximately 2:30 a.m. Friday morning, a woman called police from her home in the 2500 block of Kipling Avenue and said her boyfriend, Bill Davis, 50, had a knife and was threatening to blow up the house, according to police.

Police were able to get the woman out of the house unharmed and she notified officers that there were no explosives or guns in the house.

Duke Energy responded and turned off the gas to the home because the suspect threatened to blow up the house, according to officials.

SWAT went in after Davis and police say he acted surprised to see them and claimed he was sleeping.

Davis was arrested and charged with aggravated menacing and assault.

Officials have not released any further details at this time.
