GREEN TOWNSHIP, Ohio - Police say a Feb. 12 car fire in Green Township was no accident; in fact it was done to cover up a crime.

According to police, 49-year-old Daniel Bayer torched the 2007 Pontiac G6 after fleeing from the scene of an accident. Bayer allegedly parked the car near a lot in the 6700 block of Ruwes Oak Drive and set it on fire.

The car belonged to a family member.

Court documents say Bayer admitted to another family member that he lit papers on fire that were sitting on the driver’s seat.

He is in the Hamilton County Justice Center, facing multiple traffic charges as well as arson and tampering with evidence.
