COLERAIN TOWNSHIP - The deaths of two local firefighters forever changed the way the Colerain Township Fire Department operates.

A final report on the deaths of Fire Captain Robin Broxterman and firefighter Brian Schira will be released Friday morning.

It was more than two years ago when the two firefighters died while fighting a basement fire along Squirrels Nest Lane.

Many procedural changes are expected to come out of Friday's report, which happens to be 450 pages.

It was around 15 months following the April 2008 fire when a report by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) offered its own suggestions on how the department could improve.

The suggestions included making sure a complete 360-degree size-up of a fire is made, as well as improving radio communications.

The department is expected to take the recommendations from NIOSH into consideration when releasing the final report Friday.

The report will also outline what went wrong during the morning fire.

The Colerain Fire Department will hold a news conference at 9:30 a.m. to discuss the findings. It takes place at the Colerain Township Administration Building.
