CINCINNATI - A man has been arrested in connection with a murder that took place in the South Fairmount neighborhood Wednesday afternoon.

District 3 officers responded to 1407 Meader Street at about 12:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting, according to a press release from the Cincinnati Police Department. Upon arriving at the scene, officers located a victim who was later identified as Janice Dawson, 36. Dawson was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Cincinnati Police Fugitive Apprehension Team later apprehended Julian James, 29, and charged him with murder, according to the press release.

When police arrested James, he had a loaded gun that was reported stolen. Also, James has a previous conviction for aggravated robbery.

A motive for the crime has not been released.
