31 firefighters battle blaze at Fairmount home

CINCINNATI - A vacant two-story home in Fairmount was the site of a one-alarm fire Friday evening.

Around 8:32 p.m., emergency dispatch received a call for a house fire at 2644 Beekman Street in Fairmount. First responding fire crews found heavy fire and smoke on the first and second floors of the structure. The force of the fire caused firefighters to work from the exterior of the building.

Fire crews at the scene, which consisted of 31 firefighters, battled the blaze for about an hour before it was brought under control.

Damage to the property is estimated at $20,000. The building department was called to assess the structural stability of the dwelling.

No civilians or firefighters were reported injured as a result of the fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
