DELHI TWP., Ohio - A 70-year-old man was hurt after being struck by an SUV in Delhi Township Friday afternoon.
The incident happened around 3:45 p.m. in the 5000 block of Delhi Pike near the Kroger store.
Officials say the man was struck while walking across the street, carrying groceries.
Delhi police and fire on the scene initially said the pedestrian was thrown several feet after being struck, but confirm that the man was actually thrown on the hood when he was struck and fell off when the vehicle stopped.
There is no crosswalk in the area of the accident.
The man was transported to University Hospital by ambulance. His condition has not been released.
Authorities said they are not sure whether charges will be filed against the driver. They say speed does not appear to be a factor.
Delhi Pike was shut down in the area of the crash for a short time.
