OWENTON, Ky. - A woman died Sunday after being accidentally shot with a crossbow in Northern Kentucky.
Kentucky State Police says Yvetta Reffitt, 59, of Martin, Ky., was hunting Sunday on a farm in Owen County when the fatal incident occurred.
Reffitt had been dropped off to hunt by herself at around 6:45 a.m., according to the KSP, and when she did not return for lunch around 11:30 a.m., members of her hunting group began looking for her.
Reffitt was deceased when she was found. Preliminary investigation by the KSP points to the crossbow shot, along with pre-existing medical conditions as the causes of Reffitt's death.
The incident is still under investigation and police have not released exactly how the crossbow struck the woman.
