COVINGTON, Ky. - Four Covington police officers were honored Tuesday night, three for bravery and one for being wounded in the line of duty.
The officers were investigating a robbery in September when the suspect shot at them from a hidden spot in a building.
Specialist Mark Richardson was shot in the foot while officer Michael Gilliand had his uniform grazed. Sergeant Brian Steffen and sergeant Kevin Brady helped get Richardson to safety.
It's been a long road to recovery for Richardson, who has had several setbacks.
“We had to deal with some foreign matter that was left in my foot and then we had a bout with infection and I had a PICC line and IV for four weeks,” said Richardson.
Richardson hasn't returned to work yet, but hopes to get released to light duty after the new year.
