Police: 2 people killed in Owen County crash

OWENTON, Ky. - Two people were killed and one was critically injured in an accident in Owen County Monday evening.

The incident happened around 5:15 p.m. and involved two vehicles.

A pickup truck, driven by Gary Sigretto, 51, of Owenton, was traveling south on Highway 127 when it was struck by a vehicle that crossed the center lane, according to Kentucky State Police.

Sigretto's vehicle then struck a car head-on that was driven by Lillie Newby, 73, of Frankfort. Newby and her passenger, Patricia Gibson, 76, were transported to New Horizons Medical Center where they were both pronounced dead.

Sigretto was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Helicopter for life-threatening injuries. Police say toxicology reports for Sigretto are pending.

Police say everyone involved in the crash was wearing a seatbelt.

The crash remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police.
