Pedestrian struck, killed by car traveling on SR 36 in N.Ky.

DRY RIDGE, Ky. - A man is dead after being struck by a vehicle while walking along Kentucky State Route 36 in Dry Ridge, Ky. Saturday evening.

According to Kentucky State Police, William Bowling, 53, of Union, Ky. was walking along the travel portion of the 3000 block of SR 36 when he was struck by an eastbound 2001 Dodge pickup truck operated by Shelia Ray of Williamstown, Ky. Ray, 36, was unable to avoid hitting Bowling because of oncoming traffic, police said.

Bowling was taken by helicopter to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center where he was pronounced dead Sunday morning at 3:45 a.m.

Police said Ray was not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision.

The accident remains under investigation.
