Million dollar investment to help more achieve the American Dream

NEWPORT, Ky. - Governor Beshear announced Friday a $1 million grant to help build 10 new homes for low to moderate income families.

To qualify for one of the new homes a family must complete a home ownership program.

Governor Beshear says Newport has been aggressive and innovative in dealing with a tired and struggling housing market.

According to the Governor's office, Newport's home ownership rate is 44 percent while the rate for Kentucky as a whole is 71 percent.

He hopes this project will help more people realize the American Dream while boosting home values in the area and supporting local business.
