Preliminary hearing set for woman accused of killing boyfriend

NEWPORT, Ky. - The preliminary hearing for a woman accused of firing fatal shots at her boyfriend is set to begin Thursday in Campbell County.
Shayna Hubers, 21, allegedly murdered her 29-year-old boyfriend Ryan Poston on Oct. 12 at his Highland Heights home.
Hubers told police who responded to the crime scene that she killed Poston in self defense. According to a police report, Hubers shot Poston and then waited 15 minutes before calling authorities.
Hubers is currently being held on $5 million bond at Campbell County Detention Center. Judge Karen Thomas changed the bond to $5 million Oct. 17 after visiting judge David Hayse of Lexington, Ky., lowered it from $2 million to $1 million during a court hearing that occurred the previous day.
