EDGEWOOD, Ky. - A man was arrested in Northern Kentucky after he stole a van from a gas station and led police on a chase Thursday morning.

Police say the driver of a 2004 Toyota Sienna van had just filled the gas tank at Lusby's Sunoco on Buttermilk Pike in Crescent Springs when the owner's vehicle was stolen from the gas pump while they were inside the store.

The van was spotted minutes later by an Edgewood police officer who attempted to stop the vehicle. Police say the suspect accelerated up to 90 miles per hour and drove through residents' front yards before crashing into a utility pole.

After the crash the suspect fled on foot for about 10 minutes before he was located by police officers near Woodcliff Drive where authorities arrested Clay A. Burley, 23, of Frankfort.

He was charged with receiving stolen property after he was associated with a second stolen vehicle.

Burley is being held at the Kenton County Detention Center.

The incident remains under investigation.
