WALTON, Ky. - A male driver will appear in a Boone County courtroom Wednesday after he was accused of driving drunk in a crash that led two women’s deaths.

Logan Ellis, a 22-year-old from Nancy, Ky., is scheduled to appear in court after he allegedly drove drunk in a crash in December 2011 that led to the death of his two female passengers, 21-year-old Heather Stanley and 43-year-old Stacy Hopkins.

Ellis was driving southbound on U.S. 25 in a 2000 Chevrolet Malibu when he lost control of the vehicle, ran off the road and struck a utility pole. The car split into two pieces as a result of the impact.

One of the passengers was ejected from the car, and the other was found in the backseat. Both were pronounced dead at the scene

Ellis turned himself in to authorities and was charted with two courts of murder, D.U.I. (aggravated) and no insurance.

He is set to be in court at 9 a.m.
