Tide 'Loads of Hope' rolling into N. Ky.

INDEPENDENCE, Ky. - The Tide 'Loads of Hope' van rolled in to Independence Wednesday morning.

The mobile laundry program is offering free of charge laundry services to tornado victims.

"Loads of Hope" accepts clothing to be washed, dried and folded by the Tide team.

Tornado victim Theresa McClanahan brought some blankets to be washed Wednesday morning.

She says her home was heavily damaged, but is still standing. She says the "Loads of Hope" program has lifted a weight off her shoulders.

"Especially when someone's home is completely destroyed," she said.

"They don't have to worry about going to the laundromat, and standing there for maybe an hour and a half, especially with kids running around at the laundromat. So, this is wonderful. All you have to do is bring it in, and they take care of the rest."

Tide "Loads of Hope" was created in 2005 to provide much needed laundry services for Hurricane Katrina victims. The service is setting up at the Nicholson Christian Center, 1970 Walton Nicholson Pike in Independence from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tide will be in town for a few days.

Nicholson Christian Center is also handing out gently used clothing free of charge to tornado victims.
