HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - On Thursday, a grand jury indicted a woman who police say shot and killer her boyfriend in his Highland Heights apartment in October.

The Campbell County Grand Jury indicted 21-year-old Shayna Hubers on Thursday after police say she fired fatal shots at her boyfriend Ryan Poston, 29, on Oct. 12 at his apartment on Meadow Lane in Highland Heights. Hubers told police who responded to the crime scene that she killed Poston in self defense.

Hubers shot Poston and then waited 15 minutes before calling the police, according to a report. She was granted a $5 million bond.

Officials have not released any additional details about the case as this time. Her arraignment date has not yet been set.

The Carter and Poston families released the following statement Thursday afternoon:

As families across our community prepare to gather during this very special time of year, The Poston and Carter families feel a heavy sadness knowing that we will never again celebrate Christmas with our beloved Ryan. Our only solace is an unwavering confidence in our legal system and our strong belief that justice shall be served.
