COVINGTON, Ky. - A California man accused of traveling to Northern Kentucky to meet a teenage girl appeared before a judge on Tuesday.
Police say Robert Alderman, 23, flew from Livermore, California, to Erlanger to meet a teenage girl.
The girl's mother became suspicious when she didn't want to go to school, according to police.
Police say Alderman met the teen on a social networking site called Fun for Mobile.
Officers caught up with him at the BP gas station on Commonwealth Avenue near the girl's high school where he was waiting to pick her up.
"He finally stated he was here for the purpose of hooking up with the 14-year-old victim," said Erlanger Police Detective Greg Aylor. “During the course of the investigation, he also stated to me he planned on having sex with the victim and they also exchanged pictures via e-mail and via text messages of the victim when she was 14-years-old.”
On Tuesday, the judge ruled there is enough evidence to move the case forward to a grand jury.
