Grand Opening Of The Ascent In Covington

COVINGTON, Ky. - The Ascent got an artsy makeover Friday thanks to some Covington students. Murals created by the students were installed on the ground floor.
The artwork is part of the Covington Independent Public Schools Art History Mural Project. The project is also an art contest, sponsored by Oakley and Eva Farris.
The art history project was Inspired by the Roebling Murals on Covington’s flood and the statue of Frank Duveneck at Washington and Pike streets.
Students as young as kindergarten through high school lent their handy work for the project.
The mural with the most votes will win $500 to buy art supplies.
There are four ways to vote; by email, phone, online and on Facebook. Voting begins Jan. 17 and lasts until Feb. 15.
