COVINGTON, Ky. - Covington Police have arrested a man they believe killed the person found Saturday afternoon at the Covington Landing along the Ohio River.
The body of Rodney Shaffer, 51, of Covington, was found Saturday afternoon after a guest staying at a nearby hotel alerted them to an unresponive person found on the shoreline.
Early Sunday morning, Covington Police executed a search warrant and arrested 47-year-old Dexter Stallings of Covington. Stallings is charged with murder.
The discovery of the body happened just a day before thousands headed to the riverfront for Riverfest.
"We don't feel that there is any danger to anyone else, we feel this is an isolated incident," said Lt. Col. Spike Jones from the Covington Police Department.
