Transitional care facility will bring 200 new jobs to Northern Kentucky

COLD SPRING, Ky. - Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear joined Campbell County leaders in the groundbreaking of a new transitional care facility that is expected bring 200 jobs to the area.

"Obviously this facility is an economic boom for this area with 200 new jobs, $20 million dollars in investment and anytime we can announce something like that I'll be here," said Gov. Beshear.

Construction has already begun on the new Coldspring Transitional Care Center located on U.S. 27 near the AA Highway.

The $24 million center will specialize in short-term rehabilitation care and long-term nursing care, providing a combination of private rooms and shared suites for 143 residents.

"We take care of patients in their 50s, 60s and 70s with hip replacements, knee replacements, other types of physical therapy type service as well as long term care patients but a lot of our patients come in for two to three weeks and go home," said Barry Bortz, CEO of Carespring.

The building will also house activity, dining and exercise facilities as well as a Starbucks coffee shop.

Carespring Health Care Management plans to start hiring for the 200 positions in summer 2014, with the grand opening taking place next fall. A spokesperson said skills needed include nursing, dietary aids, paraprofessionals, therapists, administration, social services and maintenance.
