COVINGTON, Ky. - The City of Covington has purchased a bar that police and neighbors say had been a problem area for years.
Bottoms Up bar at 11 E. Fifth St. is now closed after the city finalized the purchase of the building.
"With the drunks on the street, passing out on the street, car accidents because of dui, all of those things plus folks getting sick on our front steps so we are really relieved to see Bottoms up being closed and the city making the purchase," said Rod Ford, a neighbor.
The city will now transfer the liquor license from the bar to the Carnegie Visual and Performing Arts Center on Scott Boulevard.
In the past, Carnegie had to purchase temporary licenses due to a limited number available by the commonwealth.
