CARROLL COUNTY, Ky. - One person was taken to a hospital after a car collided with a school bus Thursday afternoon in Carroll County. No students were injured.

The incident happened about 2:05 p.m. on State Route 227 and Gillock Avenue, according to an official with Owen Public Schools.

The preliminary investigation determined that a 74-year-old male from Holton, Ind., drove his vehicle into the path of an Owen County school bus transporting 13 students from a vocational school.

The 74-year-old, whose name has not been released, was transported by Carroll County EMS to Carroll County Memorial Hospital. He was then transferred by air ambulance to University Hospital in Louisville.

The bus driver, Cynthia Dixon, 58, wasn’t cited for the accident. She was taken to a local hospital to take the standard post-crash drug-screening test.

No one on the bus required treatment.

The accident remains under investigation.
