WEST CHESTER, Ohio - A family is saying thank you to a community that's supported them when they've needed it most.

The Lang family of West Chester lost their daughter, Alicia Lang, on Friday to a long battle with cystic fibrosis.

Family members said Alicia battled the disease for many years and eventually need a lung transplant.

She got that transplant in February but a bacteria still took over her body.

The Lang family said everyone in West Chester has been "unbelievable" in supporting them.

“It's been hard for us financially and people came to our rescue to help us out and we've done many fundraisers. She was on the lung transplant list for two years and with this achromobacter, if she would've gotten a transplant a year ago, she would've been gone a year ago. So we got to keep her here and let her touch as many people as possible. As long as we possibly could,” Alicia’s father, Jim Lang, said.

Donations can be made to the Alicia Lang memorial fund, which is available at any Fifth-Third Bank.

Alicia's funeral service is being held on Monday in Princeton Pike.
