WILMINGTON, Ohio - Open house at East End Elementary means meeting your teacher, hanging out with the principal, and checking out all of your brand new school supplies.

“When I opened it up and saw all the school supplies, I thought it was wonderful,” said Denae Salisbury, a parent at East End.

So what exactly is so wonderful about these ordinary markers, pencils and paper?

They are all donated , parents paid nothing for them.

The Kids in Need Foundation and the Kinder Morgan Foundation teamed up and supplied every student a box stuffed full of basics for the first day of school.

A single mother of three, Denae Salisbury knows just how tough all those school supplies are on a tight budget.

“It probably saved me sixty, seventy dollars, maybe a little more on school supplies because the younger they are, the bigger the list is. I felt extremely blessed because it was a good amount of money to save,” Salisbury added.

“Now they can take their money and maybe get a new pair of shoes or a new outfit for the first day of school,” said Erin Sutton, a third grade teacher at East End Elementary.

“It’s something they just don’t have to worry about,” Sutton added.
