MORROW, Ohio - A gas leak Wednesday temporarily forced the evacuation of about 1,000 students at Little Miami High School in Morrow.

The leak was reported at about 11:35 a.m. when two kitchen workers in the cafeteria reported an unusual smell. School officials notified Duke Energy, which advised the district to evacuate until a utility crew investigated.

Students were taken to the nearby junior high school until the Duke crew fixed the leak. They returned to the building at about 12:15 p.m.

Melinda Briggs, Little Miami spokeswoman, described the situation as a “pinpoint leak” but students were evacuated as a precaution.

“It was very, very minor,” Briggs said.
