MONROE, Ohio - Police believe alcohol was a factor in a four-vehicle accident that took place in Monroe Saturday evening.

According to the police report, David Thomas, of Middletown, was traveling eastbound in the westbound lane of State Route 63 at 9:10 p.m. when he struck a vehicle that was attempting to enter Interstate 75 from westbound SR 63. Thomas’ vehicle then struck another vehicle head-on, causing it to strike a vehicle that was behind it.

Thomas was traveling at a "high rate of speed," according to police.

Two people were transported to Atrium Hospital to be treated for minor injuries. The victims’ names have not been released.

Thomas was arrested for suspicion of operating a motor vehicle while impaired and taken to Warren County Jail.

He is expected to be arraigned Monday.
