LEBANON, Ohio - Kings Island has settled the last lawsuit connected to a 2006 accident on the Son of Beast roller coaster.
The two sides settled for an undisclosed amount as jury selection was beginning Monday in the civil lawsuit filed in Warren County Commons Pleas Court.
Jonathan Yanik of Ashland, Ky. was among 27 people injured in the accident on the wooden roller coaster at the Cedar Fair amusement park in Mason in July 2006. Yanik suffered a shoulder injury that required surgery. His lawsuit was the last of many linked to the accident.
A faulty support on the roller coaster was blamed for the accident. Kings Island closed the Son of beast for a short time following the accident. The ride was closed again in 2009 following another complaint and has not reopened.
