MASON, Ohio - A 93-year-old Mason man who went missing early Thursday morning died in a vehicle crash in Michigan later in the day.

Thomas Willwerth, a 93-year-old man who was suffering from dementia, was reported missing at about 5 a.m. Thursday. Willwerth had last been seen at his house located in Mason Christian Village, located at 411 Western Row Road in Mason.

Siginaw County officials in Michigan contacted Mason police at about 10:45 p.m. Thursday because Willwerth drove left of center on a roadway in Chesaning, Mich., and died in the collision. Willwerth was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials are investigating the collision and have not released any additional details at this time, including what led to the accident.
