Man charged in crash that killed deputy in court

LEBANON, Ohio - The Middletown man accused of leading police on a car chase and then striking and killing a Warren County sheriff's deputy is due in court for the first time to answer to the charges on Thursday. 

Marcus Anthony Isreal, 22, has his arraignment scheduled for 1:30 p.m. at the Lebanon Municipal Court on S. Broadway Street. He is charged with involuntary manslaughter and failure to comply with a police officer.

Police say Isreal was driving early Tuesday morning and took off at a high rate of speed when officers in Franklin tried to pull him over. Sgt. Brian Dulle was ahead of the chase and was attempting to deploy stop sticks when police say Isreal swerved and struck Sgt. Dulle, who was to the side of the road near his cruiser.  Published reports say Isreal allegedly was driving at 100 mph when he struck Sgt. Dulle, killing him instantly.

Warren County Prosecutor David Fornshell plans to present his case to a grand jury on Friday in seeking an indictment on the charges.

Meanwhile, the family has finalized funeral plans for Sgt. Dulle. Visitation is Friday evening at Christ's Church in Mason on Western Row Road.  The service is from 5-9 p.m.  Police expect a huge turnout of people from not only the local community, but also police from departments across the state and country.

There is a memorial fund established to help the family. People can make a donation to the Brian Dulle Memorial Fund at any 5/3 Bank branch. The family also has an organization called Maddie's Hope that was started to benefit Cincinnati Children's Hospital for cancer patients and their families. The wife of Warren County Sheriff Larry Sims and one of her friends, Mary Jo Kubicki, are using Facebook to spread word of the fundraiser they're planning on June 11 at the county fairgrounds. All of the money will go to Dulle's family.
