Hillsboro woman shoots another woman at her residence in property dispute

HILLSBORO, Ohio - Two women were involved in an argument resulting in one of them being sent by helicopter to a hospital Saturday evening.

Ashley Franklin, 25, was flown to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton with a single gunshot wound to the back, Highland County Sheriff's Office reports. Franklin was discharged from the hospital Sunday afternoon.

Authorities say Franklin was shot in the Hillsboro residence of Sandra Little, 64, around 9 p.m. after the two had a disagreement over property and an altercation followed.

Little fired multiple rounds from a .38 revolver at Franklin, striking her once.

Sheriff's deputies collected casing and other evidence from the scene, and interviewed Little. Little was taken to the Highland County Justice Center for questioning and was released without charges, the sheriff's department reports.

The Highland sheriff's office stated they were conferring with the Highland County Prosecutor's Office on the case and turning evidence over to the Ohio BCI lab for analysis in the case.

All evidence will be presented to a grand jury to determine if charges will be brought against anyone in the incident, authorities reported.
