FAIRFIELD, Ohio - A man accused of aggravated vehicular homicide after a fatal crash in Fairfield appeared in court Wednesday.

Zachary Kreke, 27, of Fairfield, was ordered held without bond after police say he was involved in a fatal two-vehicle accident Sunday.

According to Fairfield police, Kreke was traveling south on Ohio Route 4 in a pickup truck just after 1 a.m. Sunday morning when he rear-ended a semi-tractor trailer that was also traveling south.

The passenger of Kreke's vehicle, Robert Gilreath, 27, of Hamilton, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kreke was flown by medical helicopter to University of Cincinnati Medical Center and was taken into custody upon his release.

The driver of the semi-truck, Robert Harding, was not injured.
