HAMILTON, Ohio - Butler County's Sheriff Richard Jones, who has received national attention for his stance on illegal immigrants, is now threatening to sue Mexico over illegal drugs and immigrants.

Jones, who wants to pass an Arizona-like immigration law in Ohio, is looking into the possibility of filing a civil lawsuit against the Mexican government and its president, Felipe Calderon.

Sheriff Jones said he wants to recoup the local tax dollars spent on detaining and housing illegal immigrants in the jail and seizing drugs coming into the area.

The lawsuit would likely be filed in federal court and comes after a regional drug task force stopped a record 268 pounds of marijuana traveling from Mexico into Butler County.

Sheriff Jones said he won't file the suit unless someone will take the case pro-bono.

He is currently in the process of gathering legal advice and plans to talk to other police departments and sheriffs around the nation about helping him make his notion into a class-action lawsuit.
