FAIRFIELD, Ohio - A restorative clean up effort is set to take place in Fairfield to help spruce up an area near a creek bank.

Two people were murdered near the creek earlier this year: a 19-year-old Fairfield man and 15-year-old Fairfield girl.

The body of Chelsea Johnson, 15, was discovered in April near the creek behind Brookfield Drive near Pleasant Avenue. Johnson had been stabbed to death.

In August, Joseph Oakley, 19, was discovered dead in August with multiple gunshot wounds.

The creek area has been a problem area this year, attracting crime and loitering, but the city says they want to make it a more desirable place for residents.

The city and the Creekside Village of Fairfield apartments want to change all that by removing some of the underbrush along the creek in efforts to stop loitering.

Anyone wanting to help is asked to contact Doug Day at the Fairfield Police Department at (513) 896-8268 or by email at  day@fairfield-city.org .
