ST. CLAIR TOWNSHIP - An investigation into a possible burglary turned into a pot bust for the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.
On Jan. 28 sheriff’s deputies responded to 1325 Grandview Ave. in St. Claire Township for a report of a possible burglary, Sgt. Monte Mayer of the Butler County Sheriff’s Office reports.
Once on the scene deputies searched the home after observing signs of forced entry. No one was found in the house, but deputies observed what they believed was marijuana growing in the basement.
The Butler County Undercover Regional Narcotics unit was called to the scene. Agents executed a search warrant of the house and discovered an extensive grow room under construction in the basement of the house, Mayer reports.
The owner of the house, Brian Hacker, 51, was under arrest for unrelated Hamilton County charges and housed in the Butler County jail at the time of the investigation.
No additional charges have been filed at this time, but an investigation continues.
