SPRINGDALE, Ohio - Avon Products in Springdale will eliminate the jobs of 400 workers when it closes its manufacturing plant.

The skin care and personal products company already announced plans to close the plant on Progress Place by the end of the year.

Avon told the Ohio Department Jobs and Family Services this week the decision is part of a restructuring plan that was originally announced in February. Avon will move its production to sites in Illinois and Mexico and to contract manufacturers.

Avon said the job cuts will begin in mid-December and end by the middle of next year.

The company previously said that approximately 2,300 positions will be impacted globally, with a net reduction of approximately 1,200 positions when the initiatives are fully implemented.
