GREENSBURG, Ind. - A Greensburg, Indiana woman is behind bars in connection to the death of her 4-year-old son.

Greensburg police went to Courtney Tressler's home back on May, 17, 2010 for a death of a child. When officers arrived at the home on East Meadow Drive, they found Payton Ettinger deceased.

Tressler, 25, told police she fed her son who was disabled around 11 a.m. and put him back in his crib. She said she went back to check on him around 3 p.m. and found him dead.

The Decatur County Coroner determined Ettinger died from malnutrition and dehydration. Investigators say Ettinger weighed 12 pounds at the time of his death.

Tressler was arrested on Wednesday and charged with reckless homicide and neglect of an independent. She is currently behind bars at the Decatur County Jail.

Police say Ettinger becameĀ  disabled after he was abused by his father when he was 2 months old. The brain injuries Payton suffered left him unable to walk and talk. His father, Martin Ettinger, was convicted and is currently in prison in Michigan.
