AURORA, Ind. - A husband and wife are behind bars Wednesday for allegedly running a meth lab right next to their in-home day care.

Jeremy and Teresa Knigga were operating a day care at their house on Cole Lane in Aurora but police said they were also operating a meth lab only a few feet away in their garage.

The two were arraigned and charged with manufacturing meth as well as neglect of a dependent.

An investigation into the Knigga's home began after the Dearborn County Sheriff's Office received a tip that something was going on in the couple's garage.

"We decided to go out to the residents and talk to them and act quickly based on the fact that a day care was involved," said Detective Shane McHenry.

When detectives showed up to the residence, the couple's 14-year-old answered the door. A 5-year-old was also in the house.

Teresa Knigga and her husband were in the garage with friends. It was there the detectives found methamphetamine as well as the components to make methamphetamine. A third person, Billy Robinson, who was also in the garage, was charged with conspiracy to commit dealing.

Through the investigation it was also discovered Teresa was buying sudafedrin at both Walmart and Kroger.

"We learned after speaking to Teresa that she generally has about four children in the residence, but it looks like it could be as much as six or seven at some times," said McHenry.

Jeremy Knigga and Billy Robinson each were given a $150,000 bond. Teresa Knigga has yet to be given a bond.

Their next court appearance is March 5.
